Environmental Development

The Company fully complies with relevant environmental legislation at all its facilities; only specially qualified staff are permitted to handle potentially hazardous waste (chemicals from electricity installations).

MDACI cooperate with G-Environmental Development Company Limited (G-EDCL) its own operating environment and to facilitate community action by raising awareness, motivating and empowering the people to protect and restore the environment and improve their livelihoods. The Company promotes and is committed to:

  • Sustainable Development – “meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” as stated Brundtland Commission in “Our Common Future” in 1987.
  • Holistic Approach – The environment is shaped by geography and biophysical factors, the social, economic and by political actions and policies. MDACI takes a holistic approach to environmental management and recognizes that actions must address all these factors.  We engage in cross cutting issues such as poverty alleviation, gender equality, youth, social justice and HIV/AIDS.
  • Building Coalitions – Coalitions are vital for effective advocacy and campaigns, raising awareness on key issues and influencing policy. MDACI and G-EDCL build and strengthen coalitions to add impact to the MDACI’s work.  MDACI understands that only a team work can bring solutions to ecological, social and economic issues of our environment.
  • Man and Environment Conservation – It is understood that people are key to conservation, because we are all integral to the environment in which we live. The only way to effectively restore, protect, conserve and manage the environment is by working with people, building partnerships and mobilizing action.  Ethical values and a sense of spirit are essential for sustainability.
  • Passion for Progress – The sheer scale and complexity of global poverty and environmental challenges can leave people feeling depressed and hopeless.  MDACI’s staff are energized by the challenges and have a passion to strive for progress.  If a challenge seems overwhelming, we start by taking small achievable steps.
  • The Local Ways – MDACI always complies with established local rules and understands that the local culture is dynamic and organic and has much potential to help conservation and tackle poverty.  For example in Africa, there are many traditional rules designed to protect and enhance watersheds and forests and these can be used to help bring back balance to natural and social systems, combining traditional approaches with new ways of thinking and working.
