J, 1. Turbojet (US military engine designation). 2. Jet route in Class-A airspace (civil airways). 3. Symb. for joule. 4. See general electromagnetic (EM) signal power, where the symbole J represents the current desity, which is the measure of electric current per unit area, typically in amperes per square meter (A/m2). Joint Aerospace Operations Center, noun, abbr. JAOC. A command and control hub used by the U.S. Air Force and other branches to plan, direct, and execute joint air operations. Multiple "JAOCs" exist, which are either functional (like those managing air mobility or strategic strikes) or regional (like those responsible for a specific geographic area), each with specific missions and responsibilities. The JAOC is a critical component of the U.S. military's operational command and control structure. These centres include the following functional and regional operations centres.

    • Functional Joint Aerospace Operations Centres
      • 608th Air Operations Center, located at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, this centre is responsible for the command and control of long-range strike operations.
      • 618th Air Operations Center (TACC), based at Scott AFB, Illinois, this functional JAOC handles command and control of rapid global mobility, including airlift, air refueling, and aeromedical evacuation missions.
      • 616th Operations Center, located at JB San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, this center is responsible for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and cyber warfare operations.
     
    • Regional Joint Aerospace Operations Centres
      • 601stAir Operations Center, based at Tyndall AFB, Florida, this center handles air defence and civil support for U.S. Northern Command.
      • 603rd Air Operations Center, located at Ramstein AB, Germany, this center controls air operations for U.S. European and African Commands.
      • 607th Air Operations Center, based at Osan AB, South Korea, this center maintains command and control of air operations on the Korean peninsula.
      • 609th Air Operations Center, located at Al Udeid AB, Qatar, this center covers USAF operations across Northeast Africa, Central, and South Asia.
      • 611th Air Operations Center, based at JB Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, this center commands operations in the Alaskan region.
      • 612th Air Operations Center, located at Davis-Mothan AFB, Arizona, this center controls operations in the Caribbean, Central, and South America.
      • 613th Air Operations Center, based at JB Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, this center commands operations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
